Psoriasis Herbal Tincture

Psoriasis is a chronic, non-contagious skin disease characterized by red scaly patches. It may cause lesions, patches, or papules on the surface of the skin and may occur anywhere on the body. The main forms of psoriasis include: plaque, guttate, pustular, inverse, and erythrodermic psoriasis. Approximately 5% of the psoriasis patients suffers from psoriatic arthritis.  The most common causes are immune system disorder and heredity.

Skin inflammation is a sign that toxins are inside your body. It appears externally because your skin is the largest and only visible organ. In the case of serious skin problems, external treatment with a cream is not sufficient. The better approach is to detoxify your body because it then expels the toxins from inside and prevents the problems from recurring.

The primary goal of treatment is to stop the skin cells from growing so quickly. While there isn't a cure, this herbal tincture for psoriasis will provide significant relief.

The herbs below have been blended together as a treatment to stop the skin cells from growing so quickly and to provide relief for the sysptoms associated with it.

Yellow Dock (Rumex crispus), is an effective herb in the treatment of acne and dermatitis conditons. Yellow Dock mobilizes congested blood and yanks toxins from the body's tissues, which makes this herbal remedy very useful for treating skin conditions. It is used to cleanse the system of toxic wastes and to help relieve virtually all disorders associated with impurities in the blood. Normally, Yellow Dock is blended with other cleansing herbs, like Burdock and Goldenseal to eliminate toxins and foreign substances that can overburden the liver, the herb is quite useful for treating a wide range of ailments. By significantly reducing the toxic content in the body it becomes easier to heal acne, boils, eczema, psoriasis, hives, dermatitis, as well as fungal infections and blood disorders.

Medicinally, Burdock Root (Arcticum lappa), is used internally and externally and is thought to be one of the most important for treating all forms of chronic skin problems, such as eczema and psoriasis, among others. The herb yields particular benefits on eruptive and inflamed pimples, boils and abscesses. Burdock Root tinctures remove toxins from the body that are often associated with skin ailments, and it is believed to remove the inflammation. Burdock Root extract is one of the foremost cleansing herbs, providing nourishing support for the blood, the liver and the body's natural defense system, as well as being rich in vitamins and minerals.

Oregon grape root also known as ‘Barberry’ is a tall flowering shrub growing abundantly in United States and has been useful in treating psoriasis since couple of years. Berberine, is an activeconstituent in Oregon grape root showing anti-microbial properties and thereby helping to kill bacteria and fungal infections. The ointment of this root contains tannins, which helps to deter the formation of wrong skin cells in your immune system.

Dandelion Root is the most useful herb known for it’s numerous health benefits including psoriasis. The leaves, roots and flowers of this dandelion herb have been useful traditionally all over the world for treating skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.

Cardamom Seed pods have antimicrobial properties, meaning it can fight off certain bacteria and fungus which aide in the relief of psoriasis and skin disorders.

Slippery Elm (powder) named so for its mucilage (slippery) component, is derived from the inner bark of the elm. Historically, Native Americans used this extract as a poultice for boils and wounds. In addition to being used to ward off colds and fevers, it is currently marketed as a treatment for irritable bowel syndrome, reflux, and cystitis

Pau d Arco (powder) is beneficial as a natural anti-inflammatory and pain reliever for a wide range of conditions such as arthritis, prostatitis, ulcers and also may be effective as an antitumor agent. In research investigations studying other specific components, like cyclopentene dialdehydes and beta-lapachone, results showed reduced inflammation as well as the ability to inhibit angiogenesis and slow tumor cell growth.

Milk thistle seeds - The medicinal utility of milk thistle flower seeds dates back to Pliny the Elder, a Roman naturalist, who described its use in treating liver disease. A hepatoprotective effect is im parted through the flavonoid active ingredient, silymarin. Sily marin alters hepatocyte cell membranes, thereby blocking the toxin-binding sites. Additionally, glutathione, which aids in the detoxification function of the liver, is increased by silymarin.

Turmeric root - This herb is being frequently studied for its powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric also has the ability to alter gene expression. A 2012 review by the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular biology highlights turmeric's ability to alter TNF cytokine expression. This is the likely reason some patients find it helpful in minimizing psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis flares.

Follow up with a cup of green tea. Green tea is recommended for its cancer-fighting properties, and also a treatment for psoriasis, lupus-induced lesions and dandruff. According to researchers in the U.S., green tea may be a non-toxic way to regulate such conditions. In skin diseases like psoriasis, skin cells multiply out of control, causing the skin to be thicker and to flake off. Green tea, is shown to suppress inflammation, helps by regulating the expression of Caspase-14, a protein in genes that regulates the life cycle of a skin cell.
