Bladderwrack Tincture

A  French chemist by the name of  Barnard Courtois isolated iodine for the first time in 1811 from Bladderwrack extract. Bladderwrack is a remarkable source of iodine that has been used extensively in the treatment of thyroid gland disorders, including goiter and low-metabolism related obesity. According to the National Institutes of Health, it is considered as an aid to weight loss and is said to have antioxidant, antibacterial and anticoagulant properties.

Bladderwrack tincture is said to be beneficial for compensating for mineral deficiencies, helping with brain development, preventing osteoporosis, anemia and is also thought to be good for alleviating impotence. Bladderwrack is helpful for good digestion, as well as it provides relief in cases of osteoarthritis and other joint ailments. The alginic acid, which is a dietary fiber, provides laxative effects to relieve constipation. Bladderwrack can also treat heartburn and it was found to relieve the symptoms better than other common antacids sold over-the-counter. It is used in spa treatments for softening the skin, improving circulation and promoting a healthy glow. Rich in minerals, iodine and amino acids Bladderwrack has been touted for its herbal benefits for hair growth and for slowing down the aging process. It is a good tonic for children with slow mental and physical development.

If iodine is lacking in the diet (a naturally occuring element needed to process thyroid hormones), Bladderwrack can boost the iodine levels in the body and support the iodine deficiency  that may lead to thyroid malfunction. The use of Bladderwrack is said to effectively treat goiter and hypothyroidism. When obesity is a direct result of thyroid disorders and low metabolism, it may be of some help in boosting the thyroid's metabolism and helpful for weight control. Bladderwrack added to the diet can assist your thyroid in promoting a healthy metabolic rate, which directly affects your body's ability to process fats efficiently. Weight gain caused by insufficient exercise, overeating and an unhealthy diet and lifestyle cannot be helped by the use of Bladderwrack supplement.

Apart from the thyroid gland, Bladderwrack is effective for regulating the pituitary gland as well. It can be beneficial for pancreas and prostate health and help to prevent tumors. Maintaining proper pH balance in the body is one of the most significant benefits of this herbal remedy. It assists in maintaining the appropriate balance between acids and alkalines within our body. Strengthening the immune system, improving liver function and lowering the level of cholesterol and blood pressure are some of the important benefits of Bladderwrack extract. There have been some reports that Bladderwrack can also reduce cellulite deposits. Bladderwrack also offers mild diuretic benefits, helping the body shed excess water retention, thus helping to reduce weight.

According to the American Society for Nutrition, pregnant women need to ensure that they are ingesting adequate amounts of iodine, because even a mild deficiency can negatively affect brain development of the baby, potentially limiting the intellectual capacity of a person for life. Consult with your obstetrician for the dosage amounts before taking iodine supplements such as Bladderwrack.

A component of Bladderwrack, fucoidan, bonds to and eliminates heavy metals from the bloodstream. Fucoidan, in the same way, absorbs radioactive material, making it a useful tool for reducing toxicity in the body. Removing toxic elements from your system improves overall cellular function and vitality.

Fucoidan may also help treat allergies, bacterial and viral infections and inflammation, as well as stimulate the immune system. Fucoidan is sometimes recommended for treating viral infections like herpes, common colds and o. ther viral infections.

Bladderwrack is a good source of vitamin A and C. It also contains vitamins in the B-complex, those partly responsible for metabolism as the cellular level. Bladderwrack is rich in beneficial minerals, such as iron, magnesium, potassium, calcium and zinc. In addition, it contains essential fatty acids and oils that regulate and promote healthy cardiac and repiratory function.

Bladderwrack produces a calming effect with the digestive tract, which makes it a key ingredient in many heartburn medications. During digestion, a component of Bladderwrack coats and soothes the stomach and intestinal lining. It is thought to form a shield at the uppermost part of the stomach, preventing food from returning through the esophagus. Bladderwrack tincture is also useful in treating gastrointestinal disorders like diarrhea, constipation, acid reflux and GERD, indigestion and gastritis.

One of the active ingredients of seaweed supplements is fucoxanthin which appears to be helpful in balancing blood sugar and contributed to the management of insulin resistance and related problems. Bladderwrack has been used and is being tested as a supplement to treat Type II Diabetes Millitus. Folk remedies used this to treat lower leg edema, helping with water reabsorption in the kidneys, decreasing the edema.

As a metabolic stimulant, Bladderwrack has been thought to be useful in cases of fatigue and convalescence and also to remineralize the body. Bladderwrack liquid extract has a reputation as an anti-inflammatory for relieving rheumatism and rheumatoid arthritis and may be used externally as a topical application for the relief of inflamed joints. Regular use delays the progress of arthritis and hardening of the arteries.

Deficiencies in iron and l-lysine can impact hair loss in otherwise healthy individuals. Excessive hair loss can be distressing to both men and women and can have numerous causes, poor nutrition to disease. Bladderwrack is touted for improving hair growth and the health of the hair and nails.

Other Uses: Used topically, Bladderwrack softens the skin by decreasing skin thickness and increasing the skin's elasticity. Bladderwrack can strengthen the connective tissues of the skin. Stronger, tighter skin combats physical signs of aging, including wrinkles and fine lines. It is very popular in spas and is rubbed on the body to stimulate circulation, promote soft skin and a healthy glow, and it is also used in slimming treatments and on cellulite patches.
